After dinner, walking on the Hun Sen Avenue is the thing almost all people in the SSEZ will do in daily life. The Avenue lies silently growing year by year just like human beings. With the age growing, the length of it is growing as well. From September last year, I found the Hun Sen Avenue changed month by month and the imperceptible changes make me have much imagination. So waking on the avenue, I thought about what do these changes mean and what do these changes bring to people living here.
Firstly, the road gate was built which makes a safety protective screen for the SSEZ. The Hun Sen Avenue is the main road connecting with the NO.4 National Road. Initially, the gate was opened without any barrier before but now the road gate could be used to protect this zone. There are staff in the watch houses on both sides of Avenue working for 24 hours, checking the vehicles go in and out the SSEZ. The SSEZ Company conducted the “Traffic Management Measures” and regulated that the vehicles should provide with permission licenses. As far as I am concerned, there will be more enterprises coming into operation and more vehicles transporting workers and goods into the SSEZ. The enhancement of the traffic management is a practical method to protect the security of the people and property in the SSEZ.
Secondly, the road making has been painted and it seems as a silent command. The width of the Hun Sen Avenue is 25.5 meters including 20 meters of carriageway. The carriageway is divided into four-lane roads, being 3.5 meters of each lane, with two solid lines, two dotted lines and a double amber line in the middle. And the lanes for the bicycle and motorcycle are arranged on the both side of motorways with the width of 3 meters and divided by white solid lines. There are arrows such as go straight, turn left and turn right at the crossroads of the carriageway. On the one hand, these road signs could alarm the drivers to drive on the right lines and avoid traffic accidents. On the other hand, these road signs could enhance the awareness of people to abide the traffic regulations. Moreover, if the traffic accidents happen, it is convenient to identify who should be responsible for these accidents as well.
Thirdly, there are four posters with many places of interest in different countries such as the Great Wall in China, Eiffel Tower in France, Venice in Italy, Fujiyama in Japan, and American Manhattan in the morning, German Cologne in the evening in every two light poles on the Avenue, which implies the profound connotation “An International Big Family” of the SSSEZ and makes the both sides of the roads become more colorful. Now when people are walking on the Avenue, they could enjoy these beautiful pictures and appreciate a variety of the connotation in them. Furthermore, there are some image-texts such as emphasizing the close relationship between the SSEZ constructor and entered enterprises, enhancing the importance of the security and environment in the SSEZ, outstanding the service aim and permission of constructor for the entered enterprises, reminding the legitimate rights and work responsibility of the workers. These pictures and image-texts not only enhance the cultural atmosphere of the SSEZ but also improve the quality and sentiment of staff in the SSEZ.
Fourthly, the indicator boards of the road and company distribution were built and it makes the people more convenient to identify and find out the places they are looking for. There is geographical distribution map at the entrance of NO.4 National Road and indicator boards with the names of the road and company at the intersection of Hun Sen Avenue and other roads. The names on the indicator boards were written in three different languages such as Khmer, Chinese and English. The road names are written by three languages and the languages of the company names depend on their investors. The names of companies invested by Chinese people are written by three languages and others are written in Khmer and English. Putting the Khmer at first shows the respect of the host country. After Khmer is Chinese, it means the SSEZ is an achievement gained by the cooperation between China and Cambodia. And the English indicates the globalization of the SSEZ. Even though this is just a small indicator board, it creates a sense of international atmosphere and the cordial feeling of a big family.
Fifthly, the green belt was been arranged again and brought a fresh atmosphere for people living in the SSEZ. Initially, apart from the green belts in front of the Comprehensive Service Building, there were no manmade green belts besides a row of coconut trees. Now from the entrance beside the NO.4 National Way to the NO.9 Latitude Road with the length of 1.5 kilometers, the green belt is arranged with green lawn and the flower beds are built enclosed with amaranth plants and a small tree in the middle. The tall coconut trees are like big umbrellas protecting the followers and plants from burning sun and heavy rains. Today, when people walk on the Hun Sen Avenue, they could enjoy this beautiful view and prepare a favorable emotion to welcome a new beginning of tomorrow. |
